How is Christian counseling different from secular counseling?
Both Christian counseling and secular counseling share the same desire to help people overcome problems, find meaning and joy in life, and become healthy and whole individuals, both mentally and emotionally. Christian counseling is distinct from secular counseling in that it evaluates the challenges of life through the lens of scripture and one’s relationship with God. It incorporates Biblical truths, prayer, and a seeking of God’s will in an individual’s life. Christian counselors understand that the Bible has a lot of practical wisdom about human nature, marriage and family, human suffering, and so much more. A biblical framework in counseling is used to provide assurance, encouragement, specific direction and accountability. Psalm 119:24 says, “Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors.”
What do you charge?
Each 50-minute session is $150. Payment is expected at the end of each session. I accept checks, cash, major credit cards, debit cards and HSA cards.
What happens in the first session?
In the first session, we will get to know one another to determine if there is a fit to move forward. We’ll review a bit of your background, the forms related to the counseling process, and what has brought you into counseling at this time. This will also be a good opportunity to explore your goals, expectations and what matters most to you.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance as a form of payment, nor do I participate on any panels.
