Depression & Anxiety

Depression

Everyone at one time or another feels down or experiences sadness. If sadness and despair are interrupting your day to day life, it may be time to seek help. You may recognize one or more of the signs that accompany depression: a sense of hopelessness, distance from God, difficulty making decisions, guilt, inactivity, sleeplessness or oversleeping, not eating or overeating, doubting, worrying – it’s as if you're in a deep pit from which you cannot escape.

As dark as everything may look, God loves you! The Bible says Jesus came that we "might have life, and might have it abundantly" (John 10:10, NAS). Be assured, God wants you to find His peace and joy. He will help you because you are very important to Him. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18 NIV).

Anxiety

Everyone feels anxious occasionally. But for some, worry and fear are constant and overwhelming, and cause such crippling distress that it interferes with their ability to lead a normal life. God wants so much more for us than to walk through life full of fear, worry and anxiety. God cares about you and about what you are going through. His desire is that you be set free from fears, torment, and oppression to experience His abundant life (John 10:10). He says, “You are precious to me . . . and I love you” (Isaiah 43:4).
